Ticha Penicheiro, whose full name is Maria Conceição Ticha Penicheiro, is a retired professional basketball player from Portugal. She is considered one of the greatest female basketball players in European history. Penicheiro is best known for her exceptional passing abilities, court vision, and leadership on the court.
Penicheiro had a successful college career at Old Dominion University in the United States, where she played for the Lady Monarchs and set numerous records. She was named a Kodak All-American and led her team to the NCAA Final Four in 1997.
After college, Penicheiro was drafted second overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft by the Sacramento Monarchs. She went on to have a successful career in the WNBA, playing for the Monarchs, the Los Angeles Sparks, and the Chicago Sky. Penicheiro was a four-time WNBA All-Star and is known as one of the best point guards in the history of the league.
In addition to her success in the WNBA, Penicheiro also had a successful international career, representing the Portuguese national team in multiple European Championships and Olympic Games.
